Shabbos Can Change a Life.

We’ve Seen It Happen.

For over a decade, AFTB has been helping teens rediscover connection, meaning, and belonging — one Shabbos at a time.
Be a Part of Shabbos

So, What Is

THE SHABBOS PROJECT?

It’s not just another program. It’s a place to belong.

It began in 2015, when a small group of teenage boys made a commitment to keep Shabbos, and discovered something that changed everything.

Today, the AFTB Shabbos Project is a 12-week journey for teens who want more out of Shabbos — more meaning, more connection, and more of that feeling that you matter.

Each winter, boys from yeshivas across the tri-state area spend Shabbos with welcoming host families in different communities. They’re met with full tables, open hearts, and mentors who genuinely care.

No pressure.
No labels.
Just a Shabbos that feels real again.

The Shabbos Experience

Week after week, teens commit to a full Shabbos experience built around warmth, music, and real connection.
And very quickly, something begins to change.

Because this isn’t just a program you attend.
It’s a family you become part of.

Welcoming In Shabbos

After a delicious Toameha and Erev Shabbos jam, we greet Shabbos with an energetic Carlebach Kabbalas Shabbos.

Tables That Feel Like Home

Beautiful meals in warm homes, accompanied by song, laughter and stories.
This is where walls come down and connection begins.

A Full Shabbos Together

Davening, chilling, shmoozing, house-hopping.
A day that feels calm, real, and meaningful in ways many boys haven’t experienced before.

Motzei Shabbos Vibes

Musical Havdalah.
Pizza, activities, and late-night connection.
Shabbos doesn’t fade — it echoes.

It Starts With Shabbos

And continues with a lot more…

When a teen reconnects to Shabbos, everything starts to shift — confidence, identity, direction, life.

While the commitment was only Shabbos, the growth spreads like fire – Tefillin, Kosher, Tzitzis, Yiddishkeit.

Over the past 11 years, AFTB has helped hundreds of teens rediscover a Shabbos they actually look forward to.

And the impact lasts.

🔥 Week 12. Finale Shabbos. Dallas.

A Shabbos with @binyomine & Kayla Epstein we’ll never forget: Wagyu BBQs, Six Flags, Stockyards, Farbrengin with the boys… and a Shabbos that reminded us exactly why we do this. Huge thanks to the whole community for welcoming us with open arms! ❤️

The program ends here😢 ...but it’s really just the beginning! Reunion can’t come soon enough. LET'S GO!!! 💪

  • After a fire Shabbos in Deal, Havdalah turned into something unforgettable. ✨

We sang “Vehi Sheamda” with Yaakov @shwekey , the powerful melody composed by @yonatan.razel . 🎶

“וְהַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא מַצִּילֵנוּ מִיָּדָם”
“And the Holy One, Blessed be He, saves us from their hands.”

These words from the Haggadah remind us that in every generation there are challenges — yet we’re never alone. The message hits even deeper now, as Pesach approaches and our brothers and sisters in Israel face difficult days.

One Shabbos. One song. One timeless reminder of hope

  • After an unforgettable Shabbos at @shimiadar in the mountains of Airmont, we all ended up outside just singing.

“Hashiveinu Hashem eilecha v’nashuva, chadeish yameinu k’kedem”

A song about coming back, about starting again. With Pesach around the corner, it felt especially real.

  • Shabbos Project 2026
🔥Week 10 hosted by David Hillel, Asher Antebi, @shwekey, and families, in Long Branch NJ. What an inspiring Shabbos!
  • It’s hard to capture a Shabbos Project Shabbos… but here’s a little taste. ✨

After an uplifting Shabbos in Deal, Yaakov @shwekey spent time with the boys — sharing words of chizuk, signing copies of his new book The Music of Shabbos (@artscroll), singing, dancing, and just hanging out with the chevra. 📖🎶

Moments the boys will carry with them long after Shabbos ends. 💙
